Ang Thong Province is located in central part of thailand, on the banks of River Noi and is famous for its Native Handicrafts like mold court dolls, wicker work and fire brick, there are around 200 wonderful temples very neat and clean most of them suitable for Thai Chronological Study.
Ang thong was originally known as Muang Wiset Chai Chan, In Ayutthaya Period , it was important frontier outpost of the ayutthaya army to fight against Burmese, in 1767 before Ayutthaya got defeated , the Burmese encamped at Mueang Wiset Chai Chan to attack Ayutthaya , especially, prior to the defeat of Ayutthaya in 1767, the Burmese encamped at Mueang Wiset Chai Chan to attack Ayutthaya causing the Battle of Bang Rachan a noted event in Thai history. Later during Thonburi Period, Muang Wiset Chai Chan was moved on to the new location on the left bank of the Chao Phraya River at Ban Bangkaeo and was named "Muang Angthong" Ang Thong now has been divided into seven districts (Amphoes): Muang Ang Tong, Chaiyo, Pa Mok, Pho Tong, Sawaengha, Wiset Chai Chan and Samko.
