Wat Traimit (Temple of Golden Buddha) is also known as Wat Traimit Witthayaram. The city of Bangkok alone has over 400 Buddhist buildings, Wat Traimit being one of them.Wat Traimit (Temple of Golden buddha) is known for its largest image of Buhhda in this world .This image is completely made of pure gold.Hence known as golden Buddha of Wat Traimit Thailand. Until rediscovery till1954, the gold was hidden under plaster for fear of enemies especially Burmese.The 700 year old image now is the most valuable treasure in Thailand and of Buddhism.The diameter of this image is 12 feet and 5inches and it weighs nearly around 5 tons.Its height is near to ten feet.One end of the ChinaTown houses the beautiful Golden temple, situated very near to Hualamphong station.This temple is believed to have existed from 13th century

This famous statue has a typical history known as The Golden Buddha History.During King Rama III's reign a huge statue of Buddha was placed in Wat Phrayakraj.There was a need to remove the statue and vacate the temple.As soon as the statue was lifted up ,it slipped and fell to the ground.The face of the onlookers turned to surprise as well as horror when they examined the statue to find the plaster removed and from inside it came out the statue made of solid gold.Had King Rama not ordered to remove the statue,the whole world would never have had such a beautiful discovery.The plaster with which the Buddha golden statue was covered is now kept for display in the museum.It is the 900 years old statue that attracts visitors from all corners of the world. The Golden Buddha of Wat Traimit Thailand today is visited by hundreds of devotees daily to pay homage and offer prayer to this alive statue.It is also a great place for tourist attraction due to its architectural delight as well as its historical value thus proving to be the major attraction in Bangkok.The location of the place is easily accessible to the tourists.
