  • The city of Kanchanaburi lying on the northern banks of rivers Kwae Yai and Kwae Noi is regarded amongst the biggest in Thailand. The downtown business area has office buildings, shop fronts, and a shopping mall. While the businesses facing the riverfront are situated to the west of River Kwai Road. The bridge on the River Kwai facilitates easy movement and every year the area adjacent to bridge becomes spot for pyrotechnics display. The people are friendly and have strong faith in Buddhism and teachings of Lord Buddha, as seen from the quantity of temples.

  • The town is ideally located to the west of Thailand and the capital of Kanchanaburi province and expands to the regions of Ban Nuea and Ban Tai and parts of Pak Phraek and Tha Makham, Mueang Kanchanaburi district, and parts of the Tha Lo of Tha Muang district. The season out here, like in whole of Thailand, out is divided into summers and winters, interspersed with rainy seasons.
The city of Kanchanaburi has many attractions and activities, which holds the travelers out here. The JEATH War Museum is a portion on the riverside adjacent to Wat Chaichumphon is a big camp made for prisoners of wars. The word JEATH comes from Japan, England, America, Australia, Thailand, and Holland and this war prisoner camp has many memorabilia from World War 11. The war museum situated close to River Kwai Bridge is the place to see an awesome assortment of weapons, tools and utensils of the Allied prisoners of war and Japanese soldiers who were the part of World War II. The Wat Tham Phu Wa monastery situated at a comfortable distance of approximately 18 km is an ideal meditation center. You can look for an awesome looking cave and stalactites too. The Somdet Phra Sri Nakarin Park or the Stone Garden is situated in Kanchanaburi's Agricultural College at Tambon Nong Ya. Yet another popular attraction of Kanchanaburi are two temples, Wat Tham Sua and Wat Tham Khao Noi, ideally situated at Tambon Muang Chum, at a near distance of 4 kilometers beyond Wachiralongkorn Dam. The ancient temples of Wat Pa Lelai and Watkhun Phaen are also a great piece of attraction. The Death Railway made by the Imperial Japanese Army, alludes to prisoners of Second World War who were forced to built the railway line from Thailand to Burma and who perished during the course of the work.
You can reach Kanchanaburi by road in two to three hours as the Buses leave from the Southern Bus Terminal of Bangkok for Kanchanaburi at regular intervals. You can also avail railway transportation, as it is cheap and fast way to reach the city.
You can find a flexible range of budget as well as high-end hotels, guesthouses, forest retreats and resorts. You can exploit the taste of traditional Thai dishes, Chinese cuisines. However, dishes made from fresh water fishes are also too yummy
