  • If you want some peace and tranquility in a small holiday destination and want to get free form the hustle and bustle of the major tourist destinations in Thailand then go to Krabi. This is a small town located upriver with no beaches. But the town is very close to the mouth of krabi river which calls in the Andaman sea. The place has some beautiful rivulets arising from mountain ranges and flowing down to the sea.

  • How to reach?
    The place is very easy to get in. Surat Thani is well connected by air, water and road transport from major destinations in Thailand. From Surat Thani you can continue to Krabi by bus. The Krabi international airport is just 10 km from the city and it is well connected by regular flights form Bangkok, Kuala Lampur and other places. You can also rent car from some near by towns or cities to Krabi.
    You can reach Surat Thani on Train from Bangkok and then continue you journey to Krabi. Ferries from islands like Ko Phi Phi and Ko Jum run daily to Krabi. Do if you visit these places you don't have to go back to Bangkok for Krabi. Just get into a Ferry and you will land in Krabi.
    Things to Do and See in Krabi:
    Krabi town is by far cheaper than other tourist destinations in Thailand. Even the price of foods and drinks too are reasonable. The place has two night out markets which are worthy to look at.
    Krabi has no beaches on the upriver side but as you move towards the bordering Andaman Sea in the west where the river falls into the sea the place can really boast of beautiful Krabi beaches and islands (white sandy beaches), countless natural marine attractions, fascinating coral reefs, numerous caves and adjoining small islands. The place is a mecca for those who love rock climbing.
    The various districts of Krabi have different attractions. Susaan Hoi (Shell Cemetery) is located in Ban Laem Pho cape which is 17 km drive from this town. This is actually a huge rock slab which had evolved from uncountable shell fossils of some 35 million years. Millions of tourists visit this site every year.
    Then you have Tiger Cave Temple (Wat Tham Suea). This temple whose name is derived from the tiger paw prints on the stone floor of the temple inside the cave. The surrounding of the cave is covered by thousand years old trees. The place is a wonderful location for you to sit and have some kind of solace.
    Khao Kanab Nam is an attraction comprising of two hills which are more than 100 meters high on each side of the Krabi river. You have an spectacular view of the place where you can go for boat riding and other fun filled activities.
    The Krabi town is a great place to walk down and shop different indigenous items. Eatinga nd drinking is quite cheap compared to other tourist destinations in Thailand.
