Suphanburi

Suphanburi is an ancient city that reflects the rich Thai culture. This city is situated on the bank of the Tha Chin River. The local people also know this river as the Suphan Buri River. The city is spread in an area of 5,358 square kilometers and around 169 kilometers away from the Bangkok. Basically, Suphanburi is divided into 10 districts and these are Muang Suphan Buri, Domedang Nangbuatm SI Parchan, Bang Pli Ma, Song Pli Nong, Sam Chuk, U thangm Don Chedi, Dan Chang and Nong Yasai.

Suphanburi is very popular among the tourists. This place offers several tourist destinations and as described earlier, it also has many historical temples. To start your trip to this place you can explore “The Rice Farmer Museum”. This museum is located on the Phraphanwasa Road in front of the city’s main hall. The museum was opened in August 1994 and dedicated to the history of rice farming in the country. It displays the tools used in the rice farming along with the historical role of royalty in rice farming.
To add some spiritual feeling to your trip, you can visit the Wat Phra Non. This is the famous place where tourists from all over the world come to pay respect to a reclining Buddha’s Image. They also feed the large shoal of fish in the river by the temple.
Around fifteen kilometers from the town is the Sadet Birth Sanctuary. This place is also open at the evening as there are several birds like heron, comorants, painted strok, night heron and white ibises etc that can be seen in the evening only. However, you can also see several birds at daytime. This place is also famous for its beautiful sceneries and breath taking views.
Additionally, you can also explore the Wat Suwannaphum. This is an ancient temple of the early Ayutthaya period. It is located exactly opposite to the city hall. It is the place where you can see some ancient bowls, cups, vases, images of Buddha of different times, weapons and clocks.
