  • Instead of booking a taxi from inside the airport, go outside and join the queue, it will be considerably cheaper.
Most taxi drivers will take you through an elongated route to keep the meter running and increase the fare. Get a map and tell them which route you want to take.
Any shopkeeper will mark up the price by 300% or so. Bargain! Buses will run late, don’t worry about it. Sit back and relax. Things will happen in their own time.
DO NOT DRINK TAP WATER. You will end up spending precious time in the bathroom.
When taking a tuk tuk use one with black and white or red and white number plates. These are government authorized.
Trains are a cheap and convenient way to travel, even if they seem a little dodgy initially.
Lear a few basic Thai words. The people will be delighted with you and be more than willing to help you.
Money belt is essential! Keep a sharp eye on your belongings.
If you encounter any security problems call the Tourism Assistance Centre.
Thailand has a lot to offer. Enjoy the experience and you will want to come back for more.
