Udon Thani

Udon Thani is one of the most beautiful and looked upon tourist destinations of Thailand. It is situated around 546 kilometers away from Bangkok. This place is also known as the hub of the transports and communications of the upper Northeast. Besides this, Udon Thani is also famous for its hospitality and other facilities.

Your trip to Thailand will be incomplete without a visit to Udon Thani. This place has a perfect combination of beautiful beaches, museums, lakes, gardens and many more gorgeous things. The first destination that you cannot afford to miss is the Ban Chiang National Museum. It is located at Ban Chiang, Tambon Ban Chiang. It comprises into two different parts. In the first part you can see the antiques including old artifacts, ancient Ban Chiang Culture, several utensils and tools that represent the ancient technology and surroundings. All these ancient things are around 4000 to 7500 years old. The second part of this place is an open museum in the compound of Wat Po Si Nai. The fine Arts department is responsible for taking care of this part.
After the Museum, it is the time to visit a beautiful garden. Nong Prachak is one of the most appreciated tourist destinations here. It is located within the territory and there is a lake in the center of the park. It is the perfect place to see the great variety of trees and flowers.
In order to purchase some hand made clothes, you can go to the Na Kha Village. It is just 16 kilometers from the town and it is famous for its hand woven cloth that is known as Khit. Out of this cloth several types of products are made and they are also available for sale.
Another beautiful place to visit in Udon Thani is the Udon Saeng Tawan (Sunshine) Orchid Garden. It is located in Soi Kamol Watthana on the route of Udon-Nong Samrong. The major source of income for the garden is the production of the species of Thai scented orchid, as they put them on sale. These species are known as Udon Sunshine.
There are some other places in Udon Thani that you should not miss. These places are Phra Phutthabat (Holy Footprint) Bua Bok and Phu Phra Bat Historical Park. Have fun being at Udon Thani!
